Finding Your Faith Witness

Beginning on Monday, Oct. 5, and continuing on Oct. 12 and 26, we will gather at either 10 a.m. or 6 p.m. to invite you to craft your own faith witness to share with others and possibly in worship as you might choose. It is the same event at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Life events, favorite bible verses, family member faith influencers, and Holy Spirit inspiration will guide your creative writing and faith witness development. October Book Discussion

Join us for a book study of “An Altar in the World” by Barbara Brown Taylor. Led by Teri Quam, this discussion group will read and think about how practices help us walk with God and others on our journey of life. We will meet in the Hearth Room on Mondays in October from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Books are available on Amazon or Half-Price books. The library might also have a copy. Please contact Teri with questions.

Young at Heart Autumn Concert and Potluck

On Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m., Young at Heart is hosting the Les Paul Middle School 8th Grade Band and Orchestra. Their concert Fests, Frights, & Fiestas: A Celebration of Autumn Traditions will feature music from a variety of fall celebrations including Dia de los Muertos, Diwali, Oktoberfest, and of course — Halloween. Our very own Vicki Taylor will be joining the concert on pipe organ!

Young at Heart will gather in West Hall for a potluck lunch after the concert. Bring a dish to pass if you are able. Ascension thanks Young at Heart for creating this opportunity for young people in our community!

Young at Heart (55+)

Young at Heart will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at noon for a potluck lunch followed by cards, games and fellowship! Please come and bring a friend! If you don’t feel like cooking, come anyway!

The Young at Heart October 25 trip to the Schauer Center to hear the “Tribute to the Everley Brothers” is full with a waitlist. The money needs to be turned in by Sunday, Sept. 13, so we know how many people can be moved from the waitlist to the bus!

Women’s Gathering at the Pizza Farm

We will be hosting a get-together for women of all ages on Friday, Sept. 18, at 5 p.m. at Grassway Organics Pizza Farm, W2716 Friemoth Road, East Troy. Sign-up is not required. The cost is $15 paid upon arrival, which covers your pizza meal. You will be responsible for purchasing your own beverages. Please let us know ahead of time if you have any food allergies. Tables are provided onsite, but you will need to bring your own chair. Please keep in mind that the event is entirely outdoors with a slightly rugged environment, so be sure to dress comfortably for the weather. In case of rain, watch the church Facebook page for cancellation. Due to limited parking at the farm, carpooling is highly recommended. AMEN Book Study

AMEN, Ascension’s men’s ministry, will be starting a study this fall on Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s book titled “Life Together,” the classic exploration of Christian in community. This group of AMEN generally meets biweekly Tuesdays at 10: 30 a.m. However, the study starts Thursday, Sept. 24, at 10:30 a.m. It’s a short, four-chapter book but packed with lots of wisdom. The book can be ordered on Amazon for under $10. Please contact Steve Boyer through the church office if you’re interested in joining us.

Lenten Book Study

Thursday mornings in Lent, join PC in the study of “The Message of Jesus” by Adam Hamilton. It is an easily accessible read and will allow for good conversation over the six weeks of Lent. Join us starting Feb. 19 (the Thursday after Ash Wednesday) at 10:30 a.m. as we walk through the wilderness of Lent. Purchase a book for PC or buy one on your own. Sign-up at the Welcome Center.

Ash Wednesday Worship and More

Lenten cross

Begin your Lenten journey with us on Wednesday, March 5, at 6:30 p.m. with imposition of ashes and worship. Soup suppers and worship begin the following week, March 12. Look for the sign-up poster in the narthex/lobby on Sunday mornings to bring soup, help set-up and clean-up.

Thursday Morning Worship: For those who are looking for something new and a little different in this season of Lent, we are offering a half hour worship service every week on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. beginning on March 6th and concluding on April 10th. For those who might like a quieter, more reflective time of worship, Thursday mornings could provide that opportunity. There will be instrumental music, congregational singing, Scripture readings, a brief message, a time for prayer, and communion each week.

Lenten Book Study: Join Pastor Chris at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday mornings in Lent starting March 6 to discuss the book The Walk by Adam Hamilton. Examine five essential spiritual practices rooted in Jesus’ own walk with God. How do we walk with Christ—daily follow him, grow in him, and faithfully serve him? You can pick up a book from PC for $13 or download it to your device. We will discuss the Introduction and Chapter 1 on March 6.
