Memorial Gardens

The Memorial Gardens at Ascension Lutheran Church began as a dream of one of our members more than three decades ago, a way to honor the nature conservancy that shares our property while creating space to be used for worship, weddings, funerals, and reflection. In the summertime, the sounds of children’s laughter can be heard as preschool children use the space to inspire their imagination. During the summer months, Ascension offers our second worship service on several Sundays in the Memorial Gardens.

Over the past several years, Ascension has crafted a sustainable management plan for the gardens continued care and tending. A dedicated crew of members tend the gardens while always willing to welcome anyone who might want to spend some time working in the gardens or taking a walk to reflect on some moment of life.

As a part of the Memorial Gardens, an Ash Garden was developed so that members and friends of Ascension could gather to scatter the ashes of loved ones. In conversation with one of the pastors of Ascension, anyone can scatter the ashes of a loved one. A simple form is required so that we may maintain a directory of all those who are laid to rest in the ash garden. If you desire to scatter the ashes of someone you love, please contact the church office at 262-547-8518 or admin@ascensionelca.org.
