Supporting Lowell Elementary: This year’s “Tend a Teacher” initiative is shifting to support the entire Lowell community—welcoming both returning teachers and staff transitioning from Hawthorne—by collecting 1,000 glue sticks and 700 boxes of Kleenex throughout August. You can support students and staff during this major transition by dropping supplies off at the church or ordering them online and letting Pastor Edwin know!

Children’s Ministry Sign-Up & Backpack Blessing: Please sign-up online to let us know we’ll see you this fall! Also, join us on Sunday, Aug. 30, at both services for backpack blessings to help start the new school year on a good note. We’re looking forward to Sept. 13 when we will kick-off Children’s Ministry for the year!

Young at Heart Fall Trip: The fall Young at Heart bus trip is scheduled for Sunday, Oct., 25. We will go the Schauer Arts Center and enjoy a nostalgic tribute to the legendary Everly Brothers. Before the show, we will stop at The Mineshaft to enjoy brunch together. The total cost for the trip is $85 per person, which covers your transportation, concert ticket, and meal. Registration and payment will be taken at the Young at Heart potluck lunch on Wednesday, Aug. 18, and on Sunday, Aug. 23.

Venezuela Earthquake: Please consider making a gift today to support families facing unimaginable loss in Venezuela. The ELCA is working with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Venezuela (IELV), and with the Lutheran World Federation to provide food, water and shelter while also preparing for the long road to recovery ahead. Please keep them in your prayers and support them through a donation to Lutheran Disaster Response.

Blessing Box Hot Weather Notice: Due to the extreme heat, please only place packaged goods in the box. Cans can explode if it gets too hot. Keep an eye on the weather forecast. If you have items to donate, you can place them in the marked bin for either the Blessing Box or Food Pantry in the Donation Center. If you have fresh garden produce, we cannot monitor the Blessing Box frequently enough so please take these items directly to the Food Pantry.
