(during the school year)

Sundays 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.

During the months of June, July and August we worship in our Memorial Gardens behind the church on the first and third Sundays of the month at the 10 a.m. service.

Spanish-language worship is held each Sunday at 10:45 a.m. during the school year and at 10 a.m. in summer. On the first and third Sundays in June, July and August, the Spanish-language worship service is held on the front lawn.

During Lent, we also gather for Wednesday night soup suppers at 6 p.m. and worship at 6:45 p.m.

Worship Descriptions

Our 8:30 a.m. worship service is the anchor in our Lutheran Christian tradition. Our worship is enhanced by the use of the organ and piano with traditional and meaningful liturgy chanted and celebrated. Our adult choir, children’s choirs, handbell ensembles, and a variety of instrumentalists all come together to bring glory to God through our worship. Although some would consider this worship to be more formal, we are not so stuffy that you should not feel comfortable attending just as you are. People who gather for this worship service wear shirts and ties while others wear jeans and shorts. We are far less concerned with how you dressed and far more hopeful you will consider joining us in worship. This worship service will be about an hour.

Our 10:45 a.m. worship service is led with music from our Praise Band featuring both contemporary and traditional music. The Praise Band offers a high-energy worship experience as well as moments of deep reflection. Worship will be about an hour and tends to be more casual than our traditional worship service.

During both worship services, we offer a children’s time where our children are celebrated and engaged on their level. We celebrate holy communion every Sunday and all are encouraged to receive this free gift of God.

Ascension is also excited to offer a weekly worship service at 10:45 a.m. in Spanish for all who wish to worship in Spanish. The service is led by a native of El Salvador who is currently attending seminary and preparing to be a pastor. If you would like more information about this service, please contact Edwin Aparicio, Spanish Language Minister at Edwin@ascensionelca.org.

Communion is offered in both bread and gluten-free wafers along with the option of wine or grape juice every time and all are welcome ALWAYS at the altar of Ascension
