Creation Care
As Christians, we are called to care for the Earth that God created and to ensure that the environmental resources we rely on are available to future generations. As the new year unfolds, Ascension is launching a sustainability group open to all ages, including educational opportunities and simple projects or changes we can make for 2021. One of the new Mission Outreach ministries for 2021, Creation Care is a way to show that caring for the created world is based on love toward God, who created the earth and everything in it. Creation Care is more than recycling and Styrofoam, it’s about relationships with God, each other, and God’s creation. It’s about how we live with each other and honor God and His gift of creation. Ascension’s own environmental educator, Lynn Parkhurst, is helping lead this effort. We will work with Waukesha’s Green Team and offer suggestions on how to live out Creation Care. One recent suggestion was to “Adopt a Drain” and keep it clear of trash, leaves or other debris.
Winter Farmer’s Markets with the Food, Faith, and Farming Network
We look forward to seeing you at our Winter Farmers Markets that are ongoing in the Milwaukee area. If you have attended our markets in the past, we appreciate your support and trust we will see you again. If you haven’t attended in the past, we encourage your participation. Our markets are a great opportunity to share a meal made from locally produced ingredients with others in the community, purchase products directly from local farmers and producers, learn about sustainable farming practices and build connections with our vendors. Ascension is excited to host a Winter Farmer’s Market each year. Watch the Upcoming Events section for the next Farmer’s Market usually in March at Ascension.
We’d love to hear from you and answer any additional questions you have.
