Celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation!

Luther once remarked that music was a living voice of the Gospel (viva vox evangelii). In recognition of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, Ascension and other area ELCA churches will present:

“Living Voices of the Gospel”
A Festival of Hymns for Assembly, Choir, Soloists, Brass, Organ
Sunday, October 22, 4:00pm, St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., Waukesha

“Living Voices of the Gospel” is based on the hymns of Martin Luther and hymns of other cultural traditions that express a similar theme. The combined choirs of Ascension, Church of the Resurrection, St. John’s, and St. Luke’s Lutheran churches will be under the direction of Dr. Michael Burkhardt. Dr. Burkhardt is internationally known for his innovative and inspiring hymn festivals and is in frequent demand as an organ recitalist, choral clinician, and hymn festival leader. Dr. Burkhardt is a graduate of Carthage College, Kenosha, WI. He earned his M.M. degree from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX, and his D.M.A. degree from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ.

A free will offering will benefit the Hebron House of Hospitality in Waukesha.

Please plan to join Ascension musicians in the newly renovated and beautiful sanctuary at St. Luke’s on Oct. 22 for this exciting event.
